Transport for NSW is upgrading the intersection of Richmond Road and Knox Road at Quakers Hill to reduce traffic congestion, boost safety and improve travel times.
The upgrade supports the area’s predicted rapid growth, driven by future housing and a significant increase in population and jobs over the next 20 years that is expected to lead to increased traffic and greater demand on the road network.
This project will reduce the frequency of vehicles queuing out of the right turn bays and is being delivered as part of the $33 million Network Efficiency Program to improve reliability and efficiency across the Sydney road network.
Right turn bays will be extended at Richmond Road onto Knox Road from 80 metres to 265 metres, Richmond Road onto Quakers Hill Parkway from 85 metres to 195 metres, and Knox Road onto Richmond Road from 40 metres to 90 metres.
Workers will construct new pavement, lay asphalt and put down new line markings with work commencing on Sunday 9 November. Expected completion is by March 2026, weather permitting.
There will be a pause in work between Friday 19 December 2025 and Sunday 4 January 2026.
Work will be carried out from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday morning, with no work taking place on Friday or Saturday nights or on public holidays.
To ensure the safety of road users and workers, temporary changes to traffic and pedestrian movements will be in place around the work zone with lane closures during work hours and a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h outside of work hours.
Traffic control will assist motorists, cyclists and pedestrians through the work area if required.
Motorists are asked to keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signage.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience while this upgrade is completed.

"This upgrade is critically important as part of the wider effort to support the growth from future housing, the significant increase in population and traffic volumes in this area.
"Once these turn bays are in place, we expect an improved traffic flow, providing benefit to both travel times and safety."
