I pay tribute to Allan Beeks, who passed away in May this year. Allan was a stalwart of the Labor Party for over 50 years and was an active branch member in the North Rocks-Carlingford area.
I had the pleasure of knowing Allan through his daughter, Deborah, a Blacktown local, for several decades.
During Allan's extraordinary time, he worked for Labor legend Tom Uren and briefly alongside now Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
His passions were tempered by his wonderful sense of humour, sharp wit and humility. It was always great to be in Allan's company at meetings and social gatherings. He treated everyone with respect, while always holding strong to his principles.
In 1987 Allan helped the Labor cause by being the number one candidate for Baulkham Hills Shire Council. He was a true rank-and-file member who stood for the principles and advancement of the Labor movement.
Vale, Allan Beeks.
